Tabula Rasa - Ciel (needs testing)

I'm quite nervous since it's the first time i'm posting a layout to be converted, so please excuse me if i make any mistakes. Well, i would like it to be tested (especifficaly, i don't have IE 7, i have 8. Also i don't have Opera or Safari so i can't test on those browsers. I would also appreciate people testing this on their computers so i can get feedback on how it looks on different computers and resolutions, and be able to change things so this layout meets the requirements), so thank you in advance!
Note: Has been tested by me on Firefox and IE 8 under a 1024x768 and 800x600 resolution on Windows Vista.

Theme name/layout: Tabula Rasa Plain/Tabula Rasa

I am so excited you are posting this! It looks okay on both Safari and Opera, so I think you're good there.

Some comments/suggestions I have (though they are certainly not the law of the land or anything mind you):

* Currently there is no journal name on the style, only the subtitle, and no reading page title on the reading page. We might want to think about putting those in.
* It might be nice to put the journal actions above or below the journal navigation on the right. We can make this so that it displays as a linked list of text descriptions--I think with a simple space as a divider, it might fit the aesthetic.
* Along those lines, if the profile module is active, the default icon might go very well above the journal navigation.
* This is a bit more ambitious, but maybe it would be possible to put other modules into the tertiary area and put it underneath the entries, like many one column styles do?

Things to think about for conversion:

* What colors should be changed into wizard options, and how fine grained should the number of specific things you can set colors for be?
* Are there any common requests for modification you have had people make? We might be able to accommodate them as options!

You understood everything just fine! I'm not a CSS expert myself, but I am willing to help tinker and experiment with you to do the things I listed.

Different color schemes would be fun! We might want to have several official color schemes of it to start out. Do you have any suggestions for alternatives? I've always found ColourLovers to be a great resources for design color schemes.

Am I meant to tick the "Use layout's stylesheet" for this one, or not? I tested with it unticked.

I'm using IE7 here, and I really like this layout.

Personally, it looks odd without any gap above or below the actual entry text in recent entries view - there's a gap between Custom Friends Groups and Tags, but not between the entry and Custom Friends Groups. It also looks odd on comment pages that Select and the tickbox are on a line above the screening etc. buttons, and Reply Parent Thread seems a long way below them (i.e. too much whitespace). I don't know how much of each of those is intentional or IE being weird or what.

For the archive view, I've done a screenshot: http://tinypic.com/r/2pt6pkw/3 as the day number loses its alignment when there's an entry on that day.

Going around following up on things -- have you submitted your CLA yet? I can't find it in our records.

cheers,

Hmm, which name did you send it under? I bet we have it, but just don't have it linked to this account.

Also, thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look at the IE issues, etc. Good luck with your retakes!

Hmm, strange. I really can't find it, sorry. Do you still have a copy of the original email? Could you forward it to me (afuna@dreamwidth.org)?

thanks

We're still definitely interested! We're working through the backlog of styles, but we recently got a couple new people studying how to convert styles, so we're hoping to be able to get through the backlog at some point *g*

Hi! I'm one of the people [personal profile] afuna mentioned who's working on style backlogs, and I'm tackling this one right now. I've added a little bit of module and header styling, trying to stick with the visual theme - you can see what I've got so far here.

Did you have a name in mind for the color scheme? I'm unfortunately kind of awful at coming up with them myself *g*

It got lots of good feedback in IRC, too - you had a really great look going stylistically, I've just sort of extended it out into all the elements.

My brain wants to say 'Cloudy Days' because of the cool colors mixed with the rounded edges, but idk, I feel like people assume 'cloudy days' are negative.

Cloudy Days it is, then! I should have the patch done today, so with any luck it'll be in the next code push :)

No problem! It's a lovely little layout, and I quite enjoyed working on it. The patch is actually already in, but I know we have something of a queue built up, so I can't say for sure when it'll go live - hopefully fairly soon!
