Some stats:

☆ 34 layouts have been submitted. 20 are live (=59%). One is waiting for review and one should go live soon. 11 (=32%) are unclaimed. So, yeah, we're still not doing very good with layouts but conversion is hard and time-consuming.
☆ 256 themes have been submitted. 165 are live (=64%). 56 (=22%) are unclaimed and they're all themes of unclaimed layouts meaning there are no unclaimed themes for existing layouts. \o/ 6 themes are waiting for review and 16 should be live soon: 14 for the new layouts, five for Tabula Rasa, one for Tranquility III, and two for Transmogrified.
☆ We should also have previews for all existing themes very soon. (You wouldn't think so but previews are hard to do!)
☆ Styles which could use more themes are Blanket, Brittle, Drifting and Refried Tablet.

If someone will post up a tutorial on how to make previews for those of us with Hacks, that might help?

Good idea. I don't really have a method - that's probably why some of them take me ages - but I could write something.

I know there's a way to do with with a hack and making layers and it's a little convoluted, but if one has a hack, that shouldn't be to bad, eh? (that or we all make test journals!)

Oh I didn't mean getting the code (I simply import the patch the person uploaded to Bugzilla) I meant doing the preview itself.
I could explain how to import a patch (I kinda already have on the Wiki but its needs editing and I can't do that for now) but I only know how to do it with PuTTY because I'm on Windows.

Oh hey, there's a rough outline for doing the preview. I wonder if it could help give both of you ideas for smoothing out the workflow?

Wow! That's totally not how I do this... O_o

I hide most sidebar modules (as in previous previews to keep it consistent), resize my window to 1280x800, take a screenshot, resize in Photoshop then edit the entries if the shot's too big or too small (or play with the font size if that doesn't work), take a screenshot again, resize again, etc. till I get something which is exactly 114px high when I resize it. What you get is exactly what my journal looked like.
