Edit: these are now live and can be selected from Customize Style. Original layers and pics are no longer available.
I've made a lot of tweaks since the last version so I'm putting this up for a last round of testing. If you spot any display issue tell me, please. There are a couple of issues I know about but I've probably missed other things.
Please note that this uses an open source font embedded via Google fonts. It can make the page load more slowly. Also you won't see it if you've blocked Google scripts via NoScript or similar extensions.

The only thing I would say is that the top nav bar is impossible for me to read in that font at that size.
But I haven't wanted a white-on-black scheme in years, and this is just ... *want*.

It's impossible for me too! Long story short: there plans to revamp the navigation strip so I didn't want to mess with font sizes but I also wanted to use the same font outright because springing it on users later on wouldn't be ok. I'll see if I can work on the other bug first.

Seconding this! I can't even reading white-on-black for sustained periods of time, but I'm trying to justify my impulse to put this on my journal. Maybe...maybe there is a community I run that I can put this on... XD

I'm so happy you've said that because I'm very uncomfortable with light on dark so I tried to make something I could use so it's light on dark by someone who doesn't like it but really would love to. :)

My one other thought is maybe set a new prop for entry font - because while that font is awesome, it's a little hard to read in large blocks, and I feel like I'd like a less fancy sans-serif font like Verdana for the big entry blocks. That, and I personally like the visual effect of having a slightly 'fancier' font for headers and key info, and then a plainer one for the rest of the body - makes a nice contrast.

I could have sworn there was one. Excellent suggestion! Hmm. I wonder if it's worth making it a Core option...

And quite possibly. At the moment, everything that isn't a header ends up with font_page, basically.

I thought about it but I kinda wanted to make something different (and what a pain it was BTW but at least I learned something). I guess it looks less empty when you have longer titles/subtitles. I'll think about it, though. Thanks!
