Tabula Rasa - help & patch

Tested in Safari 3.2, Firefox 3, IE7 (emulator), IE8, Opera 9, Chrome

Theme name/layout: Bases / Tabula Rasa
Author: Malionette
Layout info: http://malionette.org/dw/randomcss/bases/ (pretty much the style kit + css)
Image info: no imgs

1. Help - I can't seem to get the CSS working in IE7 for three columns right. The third sidebar is just overlapping the second. See here in IE7? I'd appreciate any help. Solved (:

2. Patch - I saw that you could get patches to fix HTML to your own liking? May I request one for TR that makes the navigation bar appear in an unordered list right under the header- inside header inner and right after subtitle. Thanks. (: Solved (:

I just wanted to say that I really appreciate the extra effort you put into making this layout work across all layout options, even if it's not perfect in the three column yet!

I am excited! I think I might make a couple color variants of it for when it goes up. ::wiggle::

I think that the three-columns right is broken for all Tabula Rasa layouts (it seems to be broken in Tabula Rasa Plain as well, at least). Which doesn't help, I'm afraid!

Okay, played around with it a bit, and I am cautiously optimistic about this fix, but I've only tried it in one layout + IE7 + Firefox.

.three-columns-right #tertiary {
margin-left: $*sidebar_width;
}

(where $*sidebar_width is whatever your sidebar width is) work for you?

Sorry I've taken so long to get back to you on the second one. I've been talking to accessibility folks, and my concern is that putting the text there will make it harder for screen readers, etc, which go down the page in linear fashion, because they'll have extra text in between the top of the page and content.

Is there anything we can do with the HTML that would make it easier to position the navigation links there, but that wouldn't require the navigation HTML itself to be at the top of the page?

I'll get back to the rest of your comment later (sneaking on to read email when I shouldn't be *g*), but for your last question: nope, we don't need to support all layout types. Just tell us which ones your layout should/will/does support (and optionally, which layout you'd prefer as default) so we can put the correct options into the wizard.

Back again!

I just checked, and that version looks workable. *puts it on todo list*

Also, re: customizing with wizard, we could format .module-navlinks with the same rules for color as either #secondary or #tertiary, or maybe #primary, hmm. That shouldn't be too hard, as long as we can figure out which other section we want it to match.

Patch:

http://www.dreamwidth.org/customize/advanced/layersource?id=70918

That's the quickest/simplest way I can think of, and hardcodes the navlinks just before the #secondary div. Somewhat hilariously, it'll still let you select the navlinks module to put in the sidebar, letting you have two of them *g* (though I can dig into removing that option entirely if you want)

We can put that into its own div, too <div id="navlinks"><!-- navlinks module code--></div>?

I'm not sure about adding yet more options, but since the module header background is the same color, can we use that instead?

Then add something like this to your style:

.module-navlinks li, .entry-interaction-links li { background: $*color_module_title_background; }

I'm fine with a second navlink showing up since they're styled for both. Up to you! (:

I say keep it then! If anyone wants two sets of navlinks, I'm not going to be the one to to stop them *g*
